SMC PENANG'S MISSIONS STATEMENT

SMC Penang is a multi-cultural missions community discipling believers to disciple nations.

• SMC Penang is a cross-cultural missions community living in a mentoring environment with a common passion to reach Asia for Christ.
• SMC Penang disciples believers to know God, their identity in Christ, and His transforming work of grace so that they think and act biblically in every sphere of life.
• SMC Penang disciples the nations by training and sending leaders, teachers, and church-planters to influence all areas of society with the gospel.

SMC PENANG'S CORE VALUES

1. SMC Penang values Interior Life Growth. We will embrace the process of growing up in Christ so that we will experience Christ as our source in all things. (Jn.15:5; Rom.8:29; Eph.4:15)
2. SMC Penang values Prayer. We will live in responsive communication with God and grow in personal and intercessory prayer (1 Thess.5: 17)
3. SMC Penang values Worship. We will offer our lives as living sacrifices in absolute surrender to God. Our worship will be expressed in obedient service to God, generous giving of all He's given to us, and singing and speaking out praise and adoration to God. (Rom.12:1-3; 2 Cor.8:1-7; Col.3:15- 17)
4. SMC Penang values Personal Growth. We will be lifelong learners and schedule activities that promote intellectual, physical, and social development. (Lk.2:52; 2 Pet.1:5-8)
5. SMC Penang values Teaching for Life Change. As teachers we are called by God to equip the body of Christ for ministry and maturity. This means that our focus in teaching is to cause people to learn to be good and do good so that they reflect the true image of God. (2 Tim.3:16-17; Eph. 4:11-13)
6. SMC Penang values Ministry in the Spirit. As Christ's disciples we will do the words and works of Jesus and live lives that are naturally supernatural. (Acts 1:8; Jn.14:12-14)
7. SMC Penang values Servanthood. We will build God's kingdom by forfeiting our personal rights and facilitating the success of others. (Mat.20: 20-28; Jn.13: 12-17; Gal. 5:13-14; Phil.2:1-5)
8. SMC Penang values Interdependence. We recognize the inherent worth of individuals, the priesthood of all believers, and commit to building rich, enduring, highly productive relationships with other people. (Gen. 1:26; Rom.12:1-8; Phil.2:2-4; Eph.5:21; Heb. 10:24-25)
9. SMC Penang values Finishing Well. We will live balanced and focused lives that are dedicated exclusively to carrying out God's unique purposes. (Phil. 3:13-14; 1 Tim.6:12; Phil. 1:10; 2 Tim. 4:7-8)
10. SMC Penang values Loving God and Loving Others. This value crowns all other core values because it is in loving God and loving others that we truly reflect who God is, fulfilling our purposes in the first creation, and living out the life of the Spirit given to us in the new creation. Our lives will revolve around God and His purposes and we will love and serve others according to our God-given gifts. (Mt. 22:37-39)
